Spring Gardens of Cornwall

As we drive on our tours through the little lanes lined with hedgerows you can see the arrival and passage of a much loved season in Cornwall, Spring. First the snowdrops and crocuses pop up to say hello. Next the primroses, little puddles of sun, followed by the bluebells. This year the wild garlic is early, perfect for a foraged feast.
We have some wonderful bluebell woods dotted around the county, from Enys Gardens in the south to Lanhydrock near the moors. If you are exploring Cornwall in March or April, they are well worth including in your trip. A purple haze wraps around the trees, stunning even in our famous ‘mizzle’. Cornwall boasts some magnificent Spring gardens, and Spring seems to come here first with our warm and moist climate allowing some quite exotic blooms to bud. From mid-March you will find gardens decked with vibrant flowers, from Barbie pink magnolias, to the soft clumps of rhododendrons and the rose-like perfection of the camellia tree.
The spring gardens of Cornwall boast such diversity, Caerhays Castle, with views to the sea, nurtures over 500 varieties of Magnolia. For rhododendrons we like The Lost Gardens of Heligan, where you will find the largest example of the tree in the UK.
